Spiritualized: Songs in A&E
I'm loathe to call any album a summation of an artist's career-- that reeks of lazy criticism-- but Songs in A&E is certainly Spiritualized's best work in 10 years.

Simple, engaging, kid-friendly fun
For most people, the name “Aladdin” conjures images of Disney-style animated princes and genies who burst into spontaneous song and dance pieces. And while the Central Piedmont Community College's presentation of “Aladdin” does contain all of these elements, the show is actually based on an alternate version of “The Arabian Nights” and is tailored for an even younger audience. Adapted for ...

This is how rock musicians are supposed to age. At 50, Nick Cave's hairline is receding, but he's turned that setback into a "look," growing out his locks and cultivating the coolest mustache in the industry.

Radiohead: The Best Of / The Best Of [Special Edition]
The week after Radiohead's OK Computer was released in the U.S., it debuted in the album charts at #21; bowing at #1 was the Prodigy's The Fat of the Land . In the U.S., the Prodigy were heralded as the bellwethers for electronica, while, in the face of this newly cobbled-together marketing schematic-- and exponentially rising sales of country and hip-hop-- Radiohead were charged by some with ...

Flight of the Conchords: Flight of the Conchords
On their fictional television show, Flight of the Conchords almost never play a song that's worth a damn-- except in their imaginations. Every time they get a gig, Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie take the stage and limp their way through the deadly "Who Likes to Rock the Party".

.Space Cowboy' Steve Miller goes back to the blues
He's a joker, a space cowboy and a master of the radio hook. Steve Miller is also a yakker. Name the topic - guitar innovator Les Paul (who is his godfather), his late grandfather in Forest Lake, Minn., the Steve Miller Band's rhythm section (bassist Billy Peterson and drummer Gordy Knudtson) - and the affable Milwaukee-born guitarist, 64, will give you an earful. Rock savant turns abandoned Manhattan building into a musical statement
NEW YORK - "OK, how about 'Living on a Prayer'?" the young man asked his friend as they sat down at the beat-up organ to play a duet. The sounds that filled the cavernous hall in lower Manhattan bore precisely zero resemblance to the Bon Jovi rock anthem. That was not because the two men didn't appear to know the music. It was because every time they pressed a key, a whistling or pinging or ...
