After experimenting with the blues on 2003's misguided Trouble No More , singer-songwriter John Mellencamp seemed rather lost. It was as if the iconoclastic rocker couldn't quite figure out what to do so he turned to the tried and true.

Chubby Checker didn't write the song "The Twist," but he helped make the tune and the dance a national sensation. The golden oldie, who performs Wednesday at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and then signs copies of his new CD, won't let you forget about his place in rock history.

On stage this week
Winning the most Tonys in Broadway history, The Producers brings Mel Brooks’ classic screen comedy to the stage. A down-on-his-luck producer, a mousy accountant, a flamboyant theater director and a musical comedy about Adolf Hitler all figure into one brilliantly funny evening of theater.

Spiritualized, Oasis, Bloc Party Play Toronto Virgin Fest
The rivalry between Toronto and Baltimore is a (fictional) storied one. There's the nonexistent "The Wire" vs. "SCTV" debate, the entirely undocumented Lake-Ontario-or-Chesapeake-Bay dispute, and this thing where Orioles and Blue Jays fans hate each other (rival birds!). True, I just made all of these up, but corporate music monolith Virgin has nonetheless come to heal the imaginary wounds with ...
