A prayer done in improv
More than leaves whispered in the wind outside the Circular Congregational Church on July 13. It was 6 p.m. at the brownstone and brick church downtown, time for vespers, also known as evening prayer. The sound of a crooning trumpet escaped into the breeze. Since the late 1990s, the church has celebrated evening prayer with an infusion of jazz.
