Mother Nature smiles on Fountain City Days
GOLDFIELD - Warm sun, a cool breeze and plenty of activities awaited the residents of Goldfield as they celebrated their annual Fountain City Days on Saturday. Folks from as far away as Webster City and Callender made the trip to share in the festivities.

Tiffin to host ‘Horsepower for History’
An array of American and European vintage vehicles are to converge Aug. 16 in Tiffin for the Horsepower for History Concours d'Elegance at Hedges-Boyer Park, across from the YMCA. The show is to run 3-8 p.m. Casey Putsch of Tiffin is the major organizer and promoter for the event, which is a benefit for Tiffin Historic Trust.

Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival
Tuesday, Aug. 5 The Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Band Carrying on the proud tradition of military music forged by the whistling fifes and rolling drums of the first Marine Musicians of 1775, the band performs a variety of contemporary wind band literature, orchestra transcription, pop arrangements and marches.

The event is in its eighth year, said President Larry Lower. It was resurrected in 2000 after being on hiatus since 1960, he noted.
