Libraries see surge in activity
With paychecks stretched more and more in tough economic times, families across the country are relying more heavily on libraries and the shelves of free entertainment found inside. A downturn in the economy almost always equals an increase in library use, said Jim Rettig, president of the American Library Association.

Jubilee accomplishes goal of bringing people downtown
Bluegrass fans Pat Flanigan and his daughter, Sarah, from Parkersburg were in Marietta Friday for the final Mayor's Third Friday Jubilee of the summer. "We came to see the Williams and Clark Expedition," he said. "I've heard their music, and we wanted to see them in person." The Tennessee-based group headlined Friday's event that drew several hundred people to Armory Square on Front Street.
