Palatine fest celebrates Punjabi sports, culture
The spirit of athletic competition and the culture of northern India came together as people from all over the Chicago area gathered last week to celebrate the 14th annual Punjabi Sports Festival. The daylong event Aug. 10 at Community Park in Palatine featured various athletic activities popular in the United States as well as traditional sports in the Punjabi culture.

Hispanic heritage parade Sept. 14
WAUKEGAN -- The annual Fiestas Patrias Parade to celebrate Latin American Independence and Hispanic heritage is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 14. It will start at noon at Miguel Juarez Middle School, 201 N. Butrick Ave., and proceed down Washington Street to downtown Waukegan. There will also be a festival with music, folk dancing and food in the center of Waukegan.
