Mourners gather in Matteson to remember Mayor Mark Stricker as dedicated leader, true gentleman
Laughter and a few tears, patriotic music and hymns, and of course, the proper pronunciation of a certain village's name were all part of the funeral service Friday for Matteson Mayor Mark Stricker. Stricker, who died Aug. 16, was renown for correcting the pronunciation of Matteson. Friends and family said their farewells to Stricker, who was mayor since 1981.

Ronnie Drew, Dubliners founder, dies
Ronnie Drew, the gravelly voiced folk singer and guitarist who founded the Irish group the Dubliners and also sang with the Pogues and other rock bands, died Aug. 16 in Dublin. He was 73. Drew, who had throat cancer, died in St. Vincent's Private Hospital, his family said in a statement.
