SAVANNAH - The smell of barbecued chicken and fried dough floated in the air Saturday as families walked from booth to booth at the annual Savannah Potato Fest. The event featured carnival rides and games, potato wrestling, a car show and, of course, potatoes.

Mariachi lovers rejoice
Aficionados of mariachi music are in for a special treat thanks to Laredo Community College's celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month at both campuses. The festivities begin with a special concert featuring LCC's Mariachi Palomino on Monday, Sept. 22, at about 1 p.m. in the Kazen College Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
